It is like seeing the dawn of time, or a time very near that dawn. The waves crashing, they came from a storm somewhere near New Zealand, where New Zealand would be in millions of years. In my mind, the big waves we had this summer, they are the New Zealand waves. The waves in the picture above are different yet again, the picture is from a couple of years ago and in the winter. The big summer waves crashed over the rocks and the sea palms and would have looked very much like this at times, but even bigger. And different rocks at the dawn of time. It is also like seeing the end of time, because rocks very much like these will have waves crashing on them then too, and while it may not be sea palms on the rocks that day, it will be something on those rocks. Something in the spray, something like these sea palms soaking in the cold water and the warm sun rays under that far, far older sun.
