against fancy blinkers

I saw recently that a company is now projecting the indicator on the ground. My objection: the blinking will draw our eye down to the ground, and that’s away from where the 2-ton killing machines are. The flashier ones that move, extend, or are strange shapes doing strange things, some think those are fun, but I don’t. All the turn signals with “extras” really grind my gears; I am very much against these “more fun” versions. They are just harder to interpret in critical situations and that makes them unsafe. Give me the plain, single, simple, on-off lights of the past. The easy to reflexively understand ones. A complex intersection or an abrupt traffic stack up on the highway aren’t situations that wants more complex signals. If it makes me a wet blanket, I don’t care. I want to get home safely and I don’t want to have to read those blinkers to do it.
