Dang, it’s hot! Today it was nearly 100 F, and for the next week it’s going to be in the 90s. My car said 102. That sucks. Along with that there was a red flag warning, a much higher fire danger due to some wind. Yesterday, on my way home from the office I saw a brush fire1 near my exit, I smelled the smoke. I guess it was a homeless encampment. What a bummer.

And I’m watching the local weather forecast, and Darren2 is saying the really hot weather is only for today. Tomorrow will be a bit cooler, and there is a return of the marine layer. The part of the bay that I am in will continue to be quite warm though.

Also, there are these waves out of the south from a winter storm almost a week ago near New Zealand. I was wondering where these big swells were coming from. Not really wondering enough to go look into it right now, but the answer just came to me anyway.

That’s pretty cool.

  1. That’s a screenshot. It doesn’t look like this site keeps an archive for more than a day, nor does it link directly to the CHP incident reports. So a screenshot it is. The site does looks to be quite a useful find though. ↩︎

  2. Darren is one of two meteorologists on this channel. There are others, but these two, Darren and Paul, they’re really weather therapists. We’re gonna get through this, whatever this is this time. It’s gonna be ok. Or, it’s gonna be over at some point, because the weather is always changing. ↩︎
