Great hike this morning to the top of Mt. Umhunum, great conversation the whole way! Walking really does help the brain go. Great idea, Jeff!

It’s kinda dystopian scifi, right?

The top has this superb and surreal cold war relic, a cubic building which used to house an early warning radar system. The building is huge, totally out of place, and still very well maintained. It’s completely devoid of graffiti, the paint is fresh, and all its adornments are well maintained. The face of it isn’t featureless, but there are few human scale features; the flush inlaid water spigot picture below is one of them. Everything else is quite large.

A close-up black and white view of a textured concrete wall sectioned by a vertical pillar and casting long geometric shadows.
Water spigot detail.
