What am I up to these days?
Gymin’ it. I have run for a long time, but now I’m getting into the church of iron. I’m as surprised as you are. It turns out that if you find the right people to do things with, you’ll do a lot of things you didn’t think that you would! Like pick things up and putting them back down again, over and over. Consequently I am also eating with much more awareness and intention, or “healthy”. I’ve passed the 6 month mark on this and see no likely changes here. It’s a lifestyle update. The downside is that my pizza frequency has dropped quite a bit. More on that below.
Dressin’. I am at the beginning of trying to dress more intentionally. This is not so easy. Developing taste is hard. I’m taking the same attitude as I did about the gym and eating: it’s going to take time and experiments and resilience and patience. I’m here for it.
Backpacking. My restorative. Get out and touch grass. Offline. All that. Favorite spots include whatever is close and Death Valley.
Field Recording. I like to record things and upload them to YouTube. I don’t do it often enough. My jam is super long play ambient recordings. Like overnight or even a full continuous 24 hours. It’s a document of a place, slow TV style.
Photography. Similar to above, I take a document-as-record approach to photography. Street, New Topographics, that sort of thing. See the #photos.
Pizza. I continue to make pizza as I have done for almost 30 years now. I am old. In my defense, I started pizza-ing young. Frequency has decreased as I have been having macro goals for the gainz. But I will not be deleting this entirely from my activities.
Writing. Daily morning pages. Second passes to get essays going. It’s a work in progress. Posting things here and at my other site.
