I had never thought about it as a living place before reading that book; I could only picture it as the park that it is today. It’s not like the old mining ruins around Death Valley that readily lend themselves to the imagination. I hadn’t thought of anything in today’s Silicon Valley as a Wild West frontier mining town.</p>
